Just out of curiosity: in Transformers 5 credits at ILM site, you can read the names of people that don't work at ILM anymore , like Giovanni Nakpil, former model supervisor, that ,for what i know, works for Oculus now. Does it mean that maybe they re-used some cg model made by Nakpil in the past movies, so they had to put his name in the final credits? Or maybe Nakpil is back at ILM?I doubt they credited him because of a model he had helped create in a past film. The studios are stingy with their credits as it is so crediting someone for work they don't actually own seems doubtful. But, it is possible he assisted them in some way on the film via Occulus or even had a short stint there while in-between projects. There are also other ILM vets who did work on this film though including Doug Smythe, Carl Frederick, Mike Van Eps, Jean Bolte, Yusei Uesugi, Patrick Myers, among many others. Deep bench on this show.
Yes, it could be like you said, Shane. Maybe he was a consultant on the movie, or something like that. But It would be cool if Nakpil is back at ILM. I noticed also the name of Erik Krumrey in the credits of T5, a veteran that left the company quite a few years ago. BTW, the credits are quite huge for this movie.Yes the credits are massive for this show. By the way, I think you were right about Nakpil still being at Occulus. I checked his twitter account and it still shows him at Occulus. I think maybe he consulted on the models for the show or even did a short work stint at ILM between projects at Occulus. It's also possible that he worked with ILM on their Transformers The Last Knight VR project that just rolled out to select theaters and he worked on both film and VR project with ILMxLab. That might be his association.
