OK just implemented a simple antispam registrations mod. Apparently registration spam has recently become a major problem with other boards (checking on the phpbb support forums). Hopefully this will stop most bot registrations and I'll take care of the human ones. If not there is another more sophisticated (though similar approach) I could use. I'll change the code once in a while just in case.

Now I should be able to concentrate on other pressing matters.

Well about 2 weeks with the new measures and no new spam registration yet. The changes were easy so in case I have to roll back. So far so good. I also changed the registration to use user confirmation (as opposed to admin) which makes things easier for me.
