3-1/2 days in and no new posts? C'mon, I need to read some good stuff, especially if it is about 2018 movies that I might wind up pitching for articles. Counting STUDIO DAILY, DIGITAL VIDEO, ICG and the first VFX VOICE piece, I wrote about three dozen pieces last year, but have almost nothing lined up for 2018 outside of WRINKLE IN TIME (my VFX piece for TWIN PEAKS never happened, and several other good stories also, like MOSAIC and GODLESS, also fell through recently.)

anyway, have a good year folks. I PROMISE that this year will be different and I will actually see a movie in the theater (have no idea which one it will be though - maybe BR2049 if the local 2nd run house in Tigard, OR gets it.)

Just south of Portland, about 10 minutes away. Though I imagine we'll be heading a ways south or out of state soon (anybody know of career opportunities for freelance writers without a college degree?), because all the folks moving from NY to Portland are driving prices up astronomically - it feels like Portland is going through the San Jose thing that drove us out of Silicon Valley, where I grew up and lived till I took the Cinefex gig in 1998. It just seems to be happening much faster here.

Hello yes I am still around just not much to say FX right now!

Although I will mention I bought the Terminator2 4K UHD it has a few VFX fixes (digital Arnie head stuntman replacements, lorry crash windscreen replacement & a few other minor tweaks). Its unknown if ILM provided these shots or not. Cameron also ordered all film grain to be scrubbed so the image looks too clean & a lot of detail has been removed as this made the 2017 3D release easier to master.

Terminator 6 starts shooting in March. Cameron is only producing as well as story concepts (all Terminator franchise rights are Cameron's soon I think due to the 35 year rule). Arnie & Linda Hamilton are returning & the movie totally ignores the existing T3-5 sequels so its a direct sequel to T2!!! Doubt ILM will be the main vendor as Paramount are distributing (Skydance are the main partner) & still looking to cheapskate everything they can including Star Trek where they have allowed JJ to produce & Quentin Tarantino to potentially direct an R rated script by Mark L Smith (writer of the Revenant).

Unless its an R rated Alien or Starship Troopers not sure its the right fit for the material either & the existing cast will most likely be dumped or sidelined.

Interesting Cameron tinkered a bit with the T2 4K release. Skywalker would likely be involved if they did something to the sound.
