Oh, one more thing since we are in the The Last Jedi forum....I disliked this movie. There were beautiful shots and some amazing vfx set pieces. But the characters and their stories: terrible. The first Star Wars movie I really disliked. I really liked Episode 7 by the way. There might still be my review here somewhere.
edit: Forgot to add: I LOVED the Porgs and the Force nuns.

It's not even done 2/3 of Force Awakens. It's run out of steam after 6 weeks! That is what happens when you let the LFL story group run the story concepts & get a anonymous director not known for concise storytelling or cinematic flair! If they had let Luke live with hope instead the box office would have been way higher also the tacked on Disney ending with the broom boy was just so laughable & forced that also removed a lot of $$$. LFL still do not realize ONLY fans give repeat business which is how TFA got such a high box office take. Upset the fans like clearly remove or sideline existing fan favorites like Luke then the box office is going to decrease.
ShaneP wrote:Yeah Lucas had Luke and Rey searching for artifacts. There were also these group of jedi hunters that looked like Vader variants going around knocking off jedi and collecting sith artifacts.Lets face it he got the directing job mainly because he was a yes man & not going to argue with Kennedy....this seems to be ALL you need to direct a SW project nowadays
By the way, the Luke force astral projection at the end of TLJ....Rian admitted he got the idea from the Star Wars Expanded Universe. This is why fanboys should never be allowed to direct.

Luke could have so easily lived & had his own standalone movie like Hand Solo job is getting! LFL & Disney were determined to remove him so that option has gone forever despite Hamill still being more than up to the task the lame 30 years in exile backstory removes any chance we see the character again in a prequel set just before TLJ + TFA.PaulILMFan wrote:Bigjonr wrote:I was a fan of The Last Jedi but surely Lucasfilm should be a tad concerned with it's performance.yes $1.3 billion is great for any other blockbuster but a Star Wars film!! It's a Harry Potter spinoff!
I agree 100% with Luke's depiction. So disappointed. Look, I can accept going against audience expectations, but you have to do that with a purpose.
And I noticed you didn't mention the really silly "save the animals" moment on Canto. Oh good God almighty they saddled Rose with that painful..."at least this was worth it"...wait, what? There's a freaking war on for the survival of the galaxy and they saddle her with this terrible out of the movie dialogue because saving a herd of Fathiers is certainly equivalent to the freedom of the entire galaxy.
As an ardent supporter of animal rights, I found that was the most painful silly garbage in a Star Wars movie ever. If you want to make Okja, then make it. But don't shoehorn every cause into a SW film. It takes us out of the movie and trivializes the actual causes.
edit: nice to see you back Bigjonr!
