Saw it very late last night
VFX are tremendous the Enterprise never looked better in the early scenes before her tragic destruction
Yorktown starbase VFX are seamless & Oscar worthy the entire movie has very solid VFX.
I did not care much for STID & thankfully Beyond is way better & a bigger budget TOS episode from the 1960's era in tone & depth. You can see its lower budget than STID but that means they have to get a little more creative with the story & characters instead of throwing mindless/pointless action sequences into the mix.
If you liked the 2009 movie then this is not quite as good due to a much lower budget forcing certain static plot points but overall an enjoyable 2 hours which flew by so fast due to pacing & genuine interest in the movie (end credits are over very fast around 3 min's after the tributes to Nimoy/Yelchin).
So 3 mins fancy end credits with nebula VFX for the main cast/crew then 3 mins of fast moving walls of text for the rest leaving around 1 hour 53 mins of actual movie as the main production company credits run 1 min as well!
Below is something worth mentioning about the final few seconds of the movie but heavy spoilerish although not a major surprise plot wise!
Only thing I did not think was done properly was at the every end of the movie they get a brand new Enterprise which looks identical to the previous ship except for the NCC-1701-A. You get to see her being constructed in a Yorktown spaceport in time lapse fashion which was way too fast as it also included at least 2 x 360 degree virtual camera swoops over her but it all went by so fast & was over so quickly then it seamlessly cuts into the warp drive FX which again were paced far too quickly the whole ending sequence took perhaps 20-30 seconds it should have been slowed right down to perhaps 90 seconds as it looked a little ridiculous & felt like they just wanted to end the movie & cut to the fancy nebula end credits. The music was unmemorable & very rushed as well either the theatre was not very well setup or it was mixed too low as dialog was always clear but music was very bland & sonic wallpaper more than soaring orchestra!
