Here's an interesting piece about the Smithsonian restoring the original USS Enterprise. Longtime ILM veteran John Goodson is an advisor on the project along with numerous other Trek veterans like the Okudas, Rick Sternbach, and Andy Probert.

Check it out:

Thx to ILM for the heads up.

Update on this restoration undertaken by the Smithsonian and ILMers John Goodson, Bill George and ILM alum Kim Smith

Big unveiling on this restored art tomorrow just in time for the Trek anniversary, as well as the release of Trek Beyond and the 40th anniversary of the museum(Air and Space).

This model looks the best its looked in years(all of the video or clips I've ever seen of it it always looked a bit run down).
