Wait a second….Bumblebee has his own stunt double.

Okay, you think because you were in FIVE of those Bayformers movies making big bucks and now have your own self-titled movie you deserve your own pixelated stunt doppelganger?

Get out!

Scott Farrar is supe for A QUIET PLACE.

I wonder how fx heavy this horror movie will end up being? The best horror movies show very little, ergo, no need for giant fx studios.

Then again, this is a Platinum Dunes production...so maybe it will be a total fuck up...unless it's like OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL.

Is that a horror movie?

Platinum Dunes…is that Michael Bay's production company?

IMDb is considering it a horror drama romance, but plot is unknown. It better not be like MOTHER.

And yes, Platinum Dunes is Michael Bay's production company.

Here's the teaser:

Please studio, make this the only trailer. This is perfect. I guess we know what ILM will be working on…..Krasinski's beard. Need a new hair tool for that.

That looks promising. I hope they don't fuck it up with the they-were-just-crazy-all-along plot twist.

Or the "Hey maybe they're really in an isolated community like the Amish and the village elders concoct a story of monsters to keep their villagers from venturing outside."

Yeah the teaser was better than I expected.

ninja turtle wrote:Thor Ragnarok pretty entertaining and funny, with mostly great FX. Fantastic cg on hulk too. Do you know what ILM did on this, Hulk apart?

Maybe I'm alone on this, but I actually thought the Hulk VFX work was...relatively weak. :-? It was downright cringe-worthy in the trailers, but I'll admit they did improve on it for the final film (obviously). But...just something about it made it seem like a downgrade from the Hulk work in Avengers and Age of Ultron.

Also, YIKES, did Ragnarok have some truly awful green-screen work in the "Norway" scenes on the cliffside. My friend and I audibly went "Ooof" in the theatre, much to the other theatre-goers' chagrin.

As for the movie itself, my TL;DR review is: this is the most expensive buddy comedy ever made. Not a single dramatic or action beat wasn't undercut with some form of hit-or-miss humour, the action/spectacle might not have broke new ground, but at least it was cool to look at, Korg was great, glad to see Marvel actually (hopefully) showcasing lasting consequences and real stakes with these movies now.

Wait, what's this about? I've missed the last little while - was there an article about the movie's VFX where they talk about having a special Bumblebee model specifically for battle damage or something?

No, he has his own on-set stunt double. A person. I can just see Bumblebee sitting back in his chair while the poor stunt guy gets put through the maze of explosions and debris. And I'm sure his catering budget alone is keeping several Bay area petrol stations open 24/7.

What a diva. :D

Hi ,Tyler. Not agree with you about Hulk in Ragnarok. Maybe he dosen't look significantly more photorealistic than the two previous movies, but he gives a real acting performance, thanks to the improved ILM performance capture tech, instead of the very basic smashing and roaring of the Avengers movies.

Well, when you're a star like Bumblebee, I guess you can afford to do that. Next thing we know he'll be shouting at a hapless grip for getting in his eye-line. :D

I get that his "performance" was far better by virtue of actually getting dialogue and a nuanced performance instead of just roar roar smash, but...I just don't think he looked up to snuff. The photorealism of his skin, the way he moved, etc.. But that's just me. *shrug* I'm seeing it again this weekend, so who knows? Maybe I'll change my mind?

Most of ILM's work on the Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok centered around the initial Hulk/Thor "fight" in the arena and the standalone buddy segments. The final act Hulk on the Rainbow bridge was done by Framestore using a modified ILM asset.
